How to photograph the eyes.
The following is required for each eye:
 highest quality on your camera
glare free and shadow free - minimize other lighting in the room if necessary
photos of the entire iris - gently pull back your eyelids if necessary
file saved in JPEG - the higher quality may take longer to upload
that's ok, do not optimize for the web. The quality should look the same or better than my examples.
 
Set your digital camera in the best quality setting.
Use the macro mode if your camera allows.
All other settings can be at normal.
Set your flash to ON.  If you prefer you can have someone hold
an LED pen light towards your iris from either corner.
Try to keep the light reflection away from the iris itself.
